Wasena Park and the nearby Roanoke River offer one of the most peaceful and refreshing outdoor experiences in the Roanoke area. Wasena Park is a beautifully maintained green space that feels both lively and relaxing at the same time. With wide open fields, shaded picnic spots, and a welcoming community vibe, it’s the kind of place where you can spend hours without even realizing it. Families gather for picnics, kids play freely, and there’s always a sense of calm that makes it easy to unwind. Flowing alongside the park, the Roanoke River adds a scenic charm that truly elevates the experience. The sound of the water moving over rocks creates a soothing natural soundtrack, perfect for a quiet walk or a moment of reflection. Whether you’re watching kayakers paddle through gentle currents or simply enjoying the view from the riverbank, the setting feels both serene and energizing.

Today was quite picturesque with birthday parties and picnic blankets and so many happy people enjoying the park. I love the new skate park! I'm happy there is such a beautiful park for Roanokers to go and enjoy!

If you're looking for a place to take a quick break during a trip, this park is the spot. We had been driving for days hopping hotels. We needed somewhere to stop and just take a few minutes to relax. It's the most peaceful place. The water was perfectly clear. It was just a quiet spot away from the rest of the world.
